One of the main problems that arises due to long-term use of anabolic steroids is a decrease in the intensity of testosterone production. In this case, experienced bodybuilders use the so-called. “Anti-estrogen”. This is a group of pharmacological drugs that stimulate the natural production of estrogen. Clomid has been clinically proven to be the most effective of them.
By deciding to order Clomid, you will receive a powerful anti-estrogen similar to tamoxifen. It is used by professional bodybuilders to eliminate side effects due to the use of anabolic steroids.
Clomid is a powerful pharmacological drug from the group of antiestrogens. It was originally used medicinally to treat female infertility. Subsequently, due to its anti-estrogenic properties, the drug found wide application among professional bodybuilders. Clomid stimulates the production of GnRH (GnRH), testosterone, and also prevents the risk of developing gynecomastia (male breast growth) due to excessive fluid retention. During this time, water retention in the body causes a sharp rise in blood pressure and also prevents the formation of muscle relief. Clomid successfully solves this problem.
Over time, the properties of the drug were noticed by athletes. Bodybuilders use Clomid on an AAS cycle. It helps eliminate the side effects associated with the conversion of steroids to estrogen – female sex hormones. It also stimulates the production of natural testosterone, which is suppressed as a result of taking anabolic steroids. For this purpose it is used in PCT.

In this case, it is not effective enough. Experienced athletes are better off taking aromatase inhibitors, which suppress estrogen production. This is the most effective way to counteract the manifestation of side effects.
If we talk about fluid retention in the body, Clomid slightly disrupts this process. But its effectiveness in this sense is insufficient. The drug does not reduce the concentration of estrogen in the blood, but only blocks estrogen receptors. It should be considered that with the problem of water retention in the body it is worth contacting nutritionists more often and not resorting to pharmacological agents. Maintenance can, for example, be an excess of carbohydrates in the diet. The effect is further enhanced by taking anabolic steroids.
To protect against estrogen-related side effects, athletes are advised to take 50 mg of clomiphene citrate daily until the end of the steroid cycle. If such a dose is not effective, it is not advisable to take higher doses. The likelihood of them helping is low.
If we compare Clomid with Nolvadex on the AAS course, many athletes notice the better effectiveness of the latter drug for the prevention of gynecomastia. But there are times when aromatase inhibitors are a must.
Clomid on PCT
The primary use of Clomid in bodybuilding is for PCT. The fact is that after a course of anabolic steroids, testosterone production decreases. The degree of suppression is determined by the type of anabolic and their doses. Upon completion of the course, the process of male hormone synthesis begins to improve. But it goes very slowly – in some cases it can take up to a year. And the consequences of low testosterone are manifested on the negative side. High levels of cortisol, the catabolic hormone. Under its influence, fat mass is gained and muscle mass begins to actively break down.
Using pharmacological agents, it is possible to speed up the process of restoring the synthesis of endogenous testosterone. For this purpose, PCT is developed, which in most cases involves taking Clomid or Tamoxifen as well as a peptide hormone – hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). What does Clomid do? By stimulating the release of gonadotropins. They in turn contribute to the synthesis of endogenous testosterone.
PCT is performed if the bridge between steroid courses is more than 8 weeks. Otherwise it is not recommended. PCT is also not performed if testosterone is administered between AAS cycles, as is common among hardcore athletes.
Once you have finished taking anabolic steroids, start PCT using Clomid. Its duration is 4 to 6 weeks.
- 100-150 mg per day – the first 2 weeks;
- 50-100mg a day – 3-4 weeks;
- 50 mg daily for the next 2 weeks.
Some athletes notice greater efficacy of tamoxifen, gonadotropin, and PCT. To check the effectiveness of Clomid, it is worth taking a blood test for testosterone levels.
Side effects of Clomid
Clomid is mild. It is well tolerated and does not cause adverse effects in female or male athletes, as has been confirmed by scientific studies. However, some side effects are still possible. Women who treat infertility with the drug notice the manifestation of any of these side effects: irritability, mood swings, depression, fluid retention in the body.
Other side effects are also possible:

- chest discomfort;
The use of Clomid may be accompanied by vision problems – manifestations of blurring and blurring. In this case, stop taking the drug. Most often, after its cancellation, vision is restored. But there are cases where this did not happen. Possible causes of this action are prolonged use of the drug and exceeding the recommended doses.
Studies performed on pregnant rats have shown that as a result of taking clomiphene citrate, several reproductive disorders in mothers and their offspring are possible.
It is possible that exposure to Clomid causes a decrease in bone density.
Does Clomid Cause Cancer? There is no scientific evidence for such a condition. Even with long-term use, no effect of clomiphene citrate on cancer cell formation has been identified. It should be remembered that all studies were performed on women in the treatment of infertility and not on athletes who resorted to pharmacology.
Clomid is considered a relatively safe drug for bodybuilders. Its use can cause visual impairment and decreased bone density. Even long-term use of an anti-estrogen does not increase the likelihood of developing cancer.
